Frequently Asked Questions

1. What should I expect during my first massage therapy visit?

Your massage therapist will require you to fill out a health history form. Afterwards the therapist will begin by asking you general questions to establish the bodywork you need, if there are any health conditions needing to be addressed and to determine if massage is appropriate for you. Your massage therapist may perform certain assessments and testing to evaluate your condition, and to see if you have any presenting complaints.

2. Where will my massage session take place?

Your massage or bodywork session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table or massage chair especially designed for your comfort.

3. What do I wear during the massage?

Depending on the primary technique your therapist uses, you may or may not need to undress. For a full body massage, most people undress completely. However, you may choose to wear underwear. Your massage therapist will give you privacy to undress, and you will be covered with a sheet and blanket at all times except the area being worked on.

4. What do I do during a massage therapy treatment?

Make yourself comfortable. If your therapist wants you to adjust your position, he will either move you or will ask you to move what is needed. Otherwise, change your position anytime to make yourself more comfortable. Many people close their eyes and relax completely during a session; others prefer to talk. It's up to you. It is your massage, and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax. Do not hesitate to ask questions at any time.

5. Do you accept insurance?

At the present time we do not accept insurance. Most insurance companies do not cover massage therapy services. Contact your insurance provider for more information.

6. How can sports massage help athletes achieve peak performance and help prevent injuries?

Sports massage is broken down into pre-event, inter-event and maintenance therapy. Pre-event is 10 - 20 minutes of vigorous massage to stimulate blood flow for sport specific muscle groups and get the athlete ready for competition. Inter-event addresses possible injury or a continuation of warm-ups. Post-event or maintenance massage is slower paced much like a relaxation massage and is geared toward helping the athlete prevent injury during competition.

7. Is massage therapy appropriate for children?

Yes. Depending on the age of the child a session may be shorter in duration. For children under the age of 18, a parent is required to be in the treatment room during the massage session.

8. Do you sell gift certificates?

Yes. Gift certificates are available in any amount and can be put toward massage sessions or wellness products. They can be purchased in store or over the phone. Phone purchases require a valid credit or debit card.
